Abstract

This article was written based on the results of monitoring Rostov province residents’ social well-being, which was conducted by the Southern Russian Branch of the Institute of Sociology of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The aim of this project was to find distinctive trends specific to the Rostov region. The authors conducted a sociological dimension of the current economic and social characteristics of Rostov region’s population, as well as how their dynamics inf luence the evaluation of social changes in the country; described are Rostov region residents’ attitudes towards western sanctions directed against Russia, also examined is the impact that the economic crisis’ most acute phase had on the daily lives of Rostov region’s residents; two basic models of Rostov region inhabitants’ social adaptation to the new conditions faced by the country are identified based on analyzing life interests and attitudes.
