NRU HSE XVII April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development NRU HSE XVII April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development. Session Vd-06: How social and economic changes are reflected in transformation of school education. ModePosted on site: 20.06.16AbstractThe researche reflected in the article is conceptually based on the theory of the reproduction of an education system and the conception of a cultural capital of P. Bourdieu. There is proposed the secondary analysis of empirical research results: 1) functioning of secondary schools with intensive study of a foreign language (the mechanism of a social selection of students, the results of the interaction of cultural capitals of teachers and students, real admissions of high schools’ graduates in universities of different levels of prestige, etc.); 2) functioning of normal secondary schools (the social composition of students, the practice of an education diversification, the results of next educational trajectories of graduates). There is shown how the reorganization of secondary schools facing requests by a socially differentiated public, inevitably becomes the field of the demonstration of socio-cultural differences of these schools’ users. The theoretical model that describes how schools interact and occupy different positions in the social space of their own kind, that is, in the objective relations between institutions, witch are in a state of competition for getting more specific capital, is proposed.
