Generalized trust as a factor for the prevention ethnic tension

Abstract

The paper presents the results of sociological research conducted in Institute of Sociology, RAS in the 6 regions of Russia in 2014-2016, results the research of generalized and interpersonal trust, subjective grounds for the trust and distrust. Some problems of the empirical study of the level of generalized trust are discussed. The simple 4-point scale was used as a tool for study of trust. According to the analysis, attitudes of generalized trust do not depend on ethnic identification and region. The research indicates that ethnic tolerance and generalized trust are interrelated phenomena, ethnic tolerance assists to generalized trust. Culture of trust which was deformed in post-soviet period, now is created on the basis of cooperation and friendly relations.
