Abstract

Volunteering is seen as rapidly developing in Russia, the phenomenon owes its appearance to significant changes in Russian society and a rich historical tradition. Joining the ranks of the volunteers due to a wide range of motivations: from a pragmatic-egoistical to the altruistic. The functionality of volunteering in the society is also diverse and includes both functions of communication, socialization, mobilization, social stabilization, consolidation, civil society development and social capital formation, professionalization, and so on. The rapid growth of the volunteer community participants associated with the development of these free communication platforms like the Internet, consciousness-raising, education and public awareness in General, the desire to be needed. The volunteer network is seen as the ideal model of a community within which social capital is produced and is born with a sense of solidarity that binds this community.
