Abstract

This book provides a structured presentation of main approaches and the variations within these approaches to family studies. Symbolic-interaction, structural-functionalist, social exchange and choice, conflict, systems, family life course development, and feminist approaches are described. New theoretical discussion, phenomenological approach and new theory based investigations of foreign and Russian researchers added. Special attention devoted to comparative analysis of development of the institution of marriage in western countries. The book will be useful for young scientists, postgraduate students and all researchers who interested in family studies and family sociology.
