International (interethnic) relations in Russia in the mirror of monitoring surveys of FADN and regional studies. VESTNIK ROSSIJSKOJ NACII (Bulletin of Russian nation), 2017, No. 4 (56), pp. 107-127.ISSN 2073-7459РИНЦ: https://elibrary.ru/item.asp?id=30498848Posted on site: 30.11.17 AbstractThe article represents results of the sociological study realized by the FADN dur ing the monitoring of international relations, supplemented by the regional polls (supported by RSF). Methodology of the international (interethnic) relations research is based on the theory of contact, communication and integration and explains the indicators of the research. The empirical base of the research consists of the surveys carried out by the WCIOM, the FOM centers in 2016 and supported by the RNF. In the chapter on interethnic relations besides the absence of discriminatory practices (noted by 97% of respondents) we studied other indi cators: attitude towards people of other culture, assessment of job opportunities regardless of nationality, access to power, recognition / non-recognition of peoples equality. In addition to the all-Russian polls the author uses regional research data conducted according to the plan that allows to explain peculiarities of interaction of ethnic groups in the Russian regions. Attention is focused on different circumstances behind the same data in different subjects of the Federation. It is important to take into account polyethnic nature of the environment, social status of inter acting ethnic groups, role positions of people of different nationalities and economic situation in the regions. The author pays attention to the importance of historical factors, habitualness of interethnic contacts (including arriving migrants and attitude of power structures towards them). The analysis of monitoring polls showed that the list of alarming areas contained only two republics. In Russian regions, Moscow agglomeration and St. Petersburg ethnic negativism is much more common. In the chapter «Who are more likely to have ethnic prejudice» our conclu sions are confirmed by the data of other research centers. Ethnic prejudices are more widespread among young men, less educated people, unsatisfied with their job, living in megapolises. At the same time, it was established that the same groups in different conditions demonstrate dif ferent attitude towards interethnic contacts. Many ethnic Russians, living in the republics, are more tolerant, than thouse of them, who live in areas with dominant ethnic Russian population. Further, we analyze the dynamics of civil identity. The actualization of civil identity (as well as ethnic identity) associated with the growth of patriotism has connection with the Crimean and Ukrainian events. In the conclusion we suggest improvement of monitoring instruments, wider discussion in the scientific, expert community and representation in public space.
