Abstract

The article is reviewed that views on the regulation of interethnic relations in the South of Russia, which has developed in the scientific community. The authors systematize the points of view of domestic researchers regarding the interaction of authorities with the scientific community in the sphere of regulation of interethnic relations, their relationship to the role of regional and municipal authorities, identify the main causes that limit the powers of regional authorities and municipalities in the regulation of inter-ethnic relations. Based on the results of the analysis, the authors conclude that it is necessary to transfer the functions of regulating interethnic relations to the level of regional authorities and local self-government bodies. In their opinion, such an approach will help to prevent the formation of social tensions on the basis of interethnic interactions, as well as the growth of the authority of regional authorities and local self-government bodies.
