Abstract

The centenary of the Russian revolution is a significant resource that could be used by various actors. In Russia of 2017, a politics of memory carried out at the state level, displayed multidirectional trends. However, there are several long-term factors that limit an actual politics of memory. Among them: previous politics of memory; breaks of communicative and cultural memory; domestic and international context; actual public negative consensus against a notion of revolution and a possibility of revolution in the future; differences in public attitudes towards the Russian revolution’s role, sources and consequences.
