Abstract

The article presents a sociological analysis of the efficiency of out-of-class time distribution by students of the classical University as a resource for the development of their individual professional competencies and for ensuring their efficient economic behavior in the labor market. Thepurpose of the research is to identify the main types of students’ economicactivity as they prepare for the entry into the labor market. The article’s novelty consists in a typological analysis of students whereby the types of professional and career res ources of students’ personalities were identified as «a future professional»,«a work addict»,«immature», and «an activist». The research was conducted among 2nd, 3rd and 4th year Bachelor's program and first-year Master's program UNN students (N=1600, June–July 2016) in the fields of natural science,humanities, social and economic sciences. In the course of the research, quota sampling was applied that took into accountthe students’ faculty, specialty and their year of studies. To analyze the data, the methods of frequency, factor and cluster analysis as well as conjugacy tables were used. Priority areas of using free time by students for developing and accumulating their personal professional potential were revealed.
