Abstract

The article discusses from a phenomenological point a new round of ethnic and national identity search by the Don Cossacks, their passionate part. The article refers to raising of the level of ethnic identity and social activity of the Don Cossacks, that is connected with an attempt to gain institutional recognition of the Cossacks as a special ethnic group. The article discusses some of the terms of self-categorization of the Cossacks and their relation to the processes of construction of ethno-national status of Cossacks.
