Abstract

The article describes the Russian experience of creating institutional foundations for constructing a civil identity based on the implementation of the experience of the United States and the European Union. The authors emphasize that, recognizing the school system as the main channel for constructing a civic identity, the scientific, pedagogical and humanitarian community in Russia today has not come to unity in understanding the value bases of the civic component of education. The authors come to the conclusion that in the Russian education system today there is no infrastructure for constructing citizenship in the European connotation of this concept.
