Contemporary Russian sociology: the present condition and prospects

Abstract

The editorial board of the journal «Personality. Culture. Society» has initiated asurvey (extramural forum of experts) on contemporary condition of Russian sociology and itsfuture prospects. The questionnaire (designed by Yu.M. Reznik and V.G. Nikolaev) included questions on present condition of theoretical and applied sociology, institutional setting of Russiansociology (condition of University, academic and independent sociological establishments; division of center and periphery; scientific schools; professional associations; application of sciento-metrical ratings to evaluation of scientific work), on causes of the main problems in contemporary Russian sociology and its future prospects. Among the experts there are leading scholars and researchers representing a wide range of opinions and points of view: A.M. Bekarev (Nizhny Novgorod), I.F. Devyatko (Moscow), O.M. Zhuravlyov (Tyumen), O.A. Oberemko (Moscow), D.G. Podvoyskiy (Moscow), V.V. Radaev (Moscow), D.M. Rogozin (Moscow), V.V. Scherbina (Moscow). Answers of experts are followed by editorial commentary.
