Dmitriev. «Mathematical manuscripts» by Karl Marx (On the occasion of the 200th birth anniversary). Voprosy Ekonomiki, 2018, Issue 8, pp. 88-101.ISSN 0042-8736Posted on site: 19.11.18 AbstractThe article describes the history of the emergence of the Mathematical Manuscripts by K. Marx, published in the USSR in 1968 in a separate volume, not included in the second edition of the works of K. Marx and F. Engels. It was concluded that Marx’s study of the sections of higher mathematics (primarily differential and integral calculus) was connected with his intention to understand the work of the representatives of the “mathematical school” (O. Cournot, I. Tyunen, U. Jevons, L. Walras, etc.) which has been actively developed since the 1860s, and to understand the possibilities of the mathematical language for the study of economic processes. The role of “Mathematical Manuscripts” is designated as a kind of “ideological cover” of the economic and mathematical direction that emerged in the USSR in the 1960s.
