The prevalence of sociological education in Russia is revealed, and a conclusion is drawn about the prevailing disciplinary pluralism in the organization of the departments and the professional universalism of the sociological profession. The results of the research revealed a split in the values of the sociological profession between higher education institutions, regional and metropolitan: if regions show mainly materialistic values, capitals are characterized by adherence to post-materialistic values.
