Abstract

The article gives an overview of the most popular quality indices that are included in the world practice. The possibilities of decomposition of the index constructed for the country with the purpose of singling out separate territorial administrative components (states, provinces, subjects, etc.), as well as target social groups for carrying out social policy (diagnostics and monitoring) are indicated. Based on the brief survey of sample surveys conducted by Russtat, it was concluded that for Russia the OECD Best Living Index is the closest in terms of empirical content on a regular basis.
