Despite the prevalence of the use of the notion collective memory, it remains, firstly, underdeveloped, and secondly, it is not clear to which of the humanitarian disciplines should belong the leading role in its investigation. Here we will try to apply the system-communicative approach to the study of collective memory and, on the example of studying the experience of Sovietness, demonstrate the mechanisms of collective memory work in the formation of identity.
