Abstract

For longer than a quarter of a century the post-communist countries have been experiencing transitions of historical significance. Yet from the point of view of a transformation of political systems, it cannot be assumed that they are already beyond being affected by substantial issues. Quite the opposite, many of them still remained unresolved. Beyond a logic of the transformation, new problems and challenges are arising. Their source lays in civilizational conflicts in a region (for example, problems of the EU related to rhe refuge crisis). Similarly to many other countries, we live in a space of multiplying risk in the spheres of ecology, health, safety, distribution of goods, technological advance and social development. Civilization projects connected with great expectations - like the idea of an integrated Europe and a society and economy based on knowledge, become its caricartures, and others - prove to be the source of unexpected tensions. The ideology of consumerism on which post-modern capitalism has been founded pushes the system into the traps from whish in can't escape. Continously growing social stratification implies an increasing unhappines in many countries, while current political solutions (independently of whether they involve democratic or authoritarian regimes) remain helpless in the face of these problems. Undoubtedly, mankind will have to face a difficult period for new solutions. The world becomes even more explicitly the world to be built, while this also concerns the post-communist countries where those problems and challenges are even greater, but there are not many effective instruments to solve them. How do young people pertrain to them? Do they see in politics and civic action and effective tool to change their own life and their societes?
