Abstract

The study provides insight on the possibilities of the application of approaches of «green» urbanism and ecological design aiming at study the cities’ sustainability. These interdisciplinary approaches represent applications of the principles of resistance to planning, design and administration of the cities. The key principles of green urbanism include resource self-sufficiency of the city or closing of cycle’s at the most initial stage, reviewing of citizens as active participants of urban life, development of innovative city design, the city – products of cycling metabolic processes, high quality of life and quality of products in the cities. Much attention is paid to change of consciousness of residents of the cities. The limitations include the idea that social-and-ecological communications are static and organicism-oriented.
