The study has a theoretical and applied nature, it used the materials of quantitative and qualitative research on the analyzed issues. The main source of empirical data is a sociological survey conducted in 2015 and 2017 by the method of random non-repetitive sampling among employees of individual enterprises of different forms of ownership in the North-Eastern region of Poland and the analysis of the data obtained. The purpose of the work: to determine the most important organizational factors affecting job satisfaction, as well as to identify differences between the representatives of the older generation (X) and the younger generation (Y) of regional enterprises of different forms of ownership, as objects of functional management. The results of the study on four indicators that reflect the professional satisfaction of employees (working conditions, sense of self-value, the possibility of development, relations with other employees), revealed similarities and differences between them in the older and younger generations. Similarity is a priority for both generations of workers tangible results. The difference is in the predominance of the characteristics of pragmatism in the younger generation, and the characteristics of conservatism – in the older generation. The research is of theoretical and practical importance in the field of professional business management in the region. It indicates what factors are important for the younger generation of workers in the context of achieving job satisfaction compared to the older generation. Therefore, the management of any enterprise, in order to improve the efficiency of its activities, should use a variety of management tools, for example, to differentiate the motives that will meet the different needs and incentives in the work of employees of different age groups.
