Abstract

The article proposes an integral approach for gaining the data on large social groups’ adaptation effectiveness. Such a more prospective in comparison with today’s well-being surveys approach involves the use of data not only on people’s social well-being and time budgets but monitored life-sustaining conditions. The article with the use of statistics describes the trends in changing the life-sustaining environment of urban population in two regional centers of the Russian Federation from 1985 to 2014. The analysis of dynamic patterns of real behavior (time budget) of Omsk (1961–2014) and Pskov industrial workers (1965–2014) is given. The data on workers’ satisfaction with the time spent on different routine activities in off-duty hours and contentment with life-sustaining environment in five regional centers of the Russian Federation are used to evaluate the consequences of workers’ adaptation. It is concluded that the level of workers’ satisfaction with everyday routines and life in general in regional centers do not vary much. The evaluation of life-sustaining environment shows more in the countryside. It is specified that the level of satisfaction with life-sustaining environment corresponds to the reality.
