Abstract

To include in the World Heritage Sites a multi-site object located in two different territories unrelated to each other is not a typical situation for UNESCO. Within this article, based on an analysis of expert interviews with representatives of the Wismar and Stralsund administration and data from official documents and printed materials produced by the city administration, the reasons for obtaining such a joint status and its impact on the level of interaction between the two cities will be considered.
