Pozdnyakova M.E., Bruno V.V. The Study of the Drug Situation in Russia and Abroad: Comparative Analysis

Abstract

The paper presents a comparison of the obtained results of the drug situation with the world level, as well as a review of approaches to the study of new models of drug use in Russia and abroad. Based on the analysis of foreign monitoring data and research materials of the sociology sector of deviant behavior, it has been revealed that the key indicators of drug use in the world have changed little over the past few years, but there were a number of new trends: changes in the structure of drugs, expansion of their market – the emergence of new psychoactive substances. The features of the drug situation in Russia, its positive and negative changes are considered. The motives of drug use in Russia and abroad are analyzed, including the motives of prescription drug abuse. A secondary analysis of foreign and Russian studies and special literature showed that the current risk rate was an element of modern culture, and the propensity for risk-taking behavior was the “entrance gate” to the narcotization. Drug consumption in diff erent professional groups was analyzed. It has been revealed that a rather high level of substance use is revealed in such industries as construction sector and industrial work, health care, law, hotel and restaurant business, art and entertainment, as well as business. Foreign and domestic approaches to the phenomenon of “controlled” drug use – a new trend in the drug situation both in Russia and in the world – are considered.
