Abstract

The object of complex interdisciplinary research (sociology, Economics, history, psychology, pedagogy, management, etc.) is the dynamics of status positions of various professional groups during the modernization of modern society. The relevance of the study is due to the complex processes of changing the role and infl uence of various professional groups on the modernization processes in the country, on the one hand, high-quality within the professional transformation under the infl uence of modernization processes, on the other, the emergence of new activities, professions under the infl uence of global processes of socio-economic development of society. The study is based on the use of a wide range of sociological methods and practices (content analysis, secondary processing of statistical and sociological data, surveys and questionnaires, focus groups). As a result of the in-depth analysis of the problems of functioning of socio-economic development   of professional groups at the present stage, professions and activities: engineers, teachers of preschool institutions, schools, military personnel, civil servants, bloggers, the possible directions of research work for the future were identifi ed: the study of the degree of socio-economic demand for improving the status and prestige of the engineer profession; the analysis of the professionalization of engineers in modern conditions of transformation of the higher education system; study of the processes of consolidation or separation of the professional group of engineers; study of the processes of professionalization in the media sphere. The data obtained as a result of the study, deserve attention not only sociologists studying the social structure of society, but also specialists in other industries, as well as managers at diff erent levels
