It points on the sources of me7 diation thinking in the history of the West, China and Russia. It is concluded that modern Western civilization was born in the mediation cradles of the New Testament, that the modern policy of the PRC leaders is largely shaped by the mediation ideas of Confucius and Confucianism, and that mediation in Russia began in the works of Pushkin and Lermontov and continues mainly in the thought of Russian figures of literature and art. Elements of the theory of the evolution of culture are built up through the problematics of the diachronic formation of mediation as an alternative to “subjectless” thinking. The article argues with a postmodern statement that the personality disappears in the face of the growing importance of globalization and the nation state.
