In 2017, the steady recovery in household income continued as real income of an average household grew by 10.6%. The share of government transfer payments in total household income decreased for the first time since 2011, while the proportion of wages rose slightly. Total household income went up in all income groups, but unlike 2016 when low-income families experienced a sharper increase in household income, in 2017 this trend was reversed, and the better-off emerged as main beneficiaries of income growth. In 2017, household expenditures rose at about the same rate as they did the year before. However, although total household expenditures went up by 9.3%, the growth in non-food spending slowed down. Nevertheless, the share of food expenditures continued to decrease. The spending gap between the wealthy and the poor continued to narrow. In 2017, well-off families spent five times more than low-income households. By the end of 2017, the unemployment rate declined from 4.7 to 3.5%, and the workforce participation rate stood at 81.9% of the adult population. Men continued to outperform women in the labor market, having the higher proportion of wage-earners and higher average earnings. In 2017, women earned 70.8% of male work-related income. In 2017, there was a noticeable improvement in reported life satisfaction, with the share of those generally satisfied with their lives climbing to 51.1%. People also became more contented with their family financial circumstances. While the proportion of those who felt that their families became worse-off doubled between 2012 and 2016, growing from 15.5 to 31.5%, it fell to 25.0% in 2017. People were slightly less anxious about losing a job or finding a new one. The share of those concerned about their job security dropped slightly and stood at 63.3%. There was little change in general job satisfaction, with 66.8% of respondents reporting high or moderate level of satisfaction.Авторы:Воронин Г.Л., Козырева П.М., Косолапов М.С., Низамова А.Э., Сивкова И.В., Смирнов А.И., Соколова С.Б., Тонис Е.И., Евграфова К.О.
