Abstract

The paper analyses the today`s situation in Russia by using the concept of the society of trauma, which was developed by P. Stompky. Traumatic changes of a society aren’t a result of un-expected, spontaneous, unforeseen processes as it has quite often been supposed. J. T. Toschenko applied the concept of the society of trauma to Russia and showed in his research that traumatic changes in our country are a result of fully manageable processes, which aimed the implementation of specific goals. The analysis of the reasons and the ways of society`s turbulences during the «traumatic sequences» in the 90`s (the collapse of the USSR, the small civil war in 1993 and the default in 1998) indicates that all these basic traumatic developments were prepared and consistently realized by internal and external forces with the aim to control the country`s resources; to create different layers of owners, which would guarantee the irreversibility of the changes; and to reformat people, who became unnecessary. The paper considers the catastrophic consequences of such policy. The research data indicate that Russian constitutional social state transforms into an asocial and corrupted one. The author emphasizes the systemic character of the traumatic events and processes in Russia, which penetrates all spheres of human activities, causes pathological changes, produces massive negative emotions and blocks development.
