Abstract

The article presents a review of domestic publications devoted to the peculiarities of social policies implemented by regional authorities through the prism of socio-cultural development in the context of the Russian border. The main indicators showing the level of socio-cultural development of border areas, their specificity, as well as the need more attention to the problems of the border area, especially in the issues of population outflow and depopulation of territories. The conclusion is made about the negative consequences of further ignoring these problems are not only for specific territories-subjects of the Russian Federation, but also for Russia as a whole.
