The authors consider the current tendencies in studying the life and scientific heritage of A. S. Lappo-Danilevsky, which were presented at the Russian Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference “Academician A. S. Lappo-Danilevsky in the Memory of the Scientific Community” held in St Petersburg in October 2019. The paper analyzes the differences of the 2019 conference from previous scientific events related to the A. S. Lappo-Danilevsky anniversaries held in St Petersburg in 2003 and 2013. The authors give the information concerning the publications devoted to A. S. Lappo-Danilevsky published in recent years (not only in historical publications but also in philosophical, sociological, historical and scientific journals and collections). In this respect, the authors emphasize that a large volume of rare and archival materials about the life of a scientist is published, as well as manuscripts of his works, and his views (sociological, theoretical, methodological, historical and scientific) are reconstructed. It is shown that the reconstruction of A. S. Lappo-Danilevsky’s image which can be found in modern literature: he is represented as an intellectual of the Silver Age, a representative of the St Petersburg Historical School, the creator of his own «scientific school», one of the first historians of science and an organizer of science (historical and social). The modern academic institutions in the field of the history of science and science studies ascend to the subcommittee for the publication of the collection “Russian Science” headed by A. S. Lappo-Danilevsky. It is noted that the reedition of many works of the historian and existing studies doubt the need for further non-critical presentation of his views. It is concluded that we need a conceptualization of A. S. Lappo-Danilevsky’s teachings, for example, to interpret his conception as a “generalizing discourse”, and A. S. Lappo-Danilevsky himself should be understood as a founder of an integrative approach in the social sciences.
