Abstract

The article presents the results of a pilot study of the content analysis of regional print media covering 12 national projects in four regions of the Russian Federation: the Republic of Kalmykia, the Republic of Bashkortostan, Belgorod and Moscow Regions. A description is made of the research methodology and key empirical results of media analysis. The general methodological framework of the pilot study is a method mixing strategy, the main idea of which is the ability to integrate quantitative and qualitative data analysis methods. A methodology for analyzing a large body of media publications developed during a pilot study is presented, which includes: determining the type of media, specific publications to be analyzed, period, headings, data collection methods, forming a data body, determining units of analysis, performing descriptive analysis, highlighting, quantitative assessment and description of the main topics (thematic analysis), conducting thematic modeling, cross-description of the results of two types of thematic analysis, analysis of the essence STI: frequency analysis, sentiment analysis, context analysis of occurrences. The main informative conclusion of the pilot study is that systematic and reliable information about government initiatives, the implementation of national projects and programs (in particular, the priority directions of the Decree), their implementation and the results are not heard by the general reader. If we draw an analogy with the 2015 study, we can say that over this period the number of independent print media in the regions has sharply decreased.
