The key theoretical provisions of the article are substantiated by the sociological approach to the sport. Empirical data were obtained through a telephone survey (September-October 2018) in the form of a personal standardized interview with a representative stratified sample and processed in the “CATI” system. The study revealed a high degree of interest of Russians to sport tournaments at international level. The authors have established the most important socio-structural trends that determine the attitude of St. Petersburg residents to sports mega-events.Авторы:, , Гонашвили А.С.
