The article is based on the results of a survey of the population of the Republic of Karelia in the framework of the Russian-Swedish project Ecology and gender, the purpose of which was to study the daily practices of the population of the Republic in the environmental sphere. The article substantiates the point of view that the nature of interpersonal relations, which in the context of the considered problem can be called the ecology of human relations, is the deepest layer of the current state of gender relations. This suggests that for a real change in gender stereotypes and gender relations based on them, it is necessary that changes in these relations also permeate interpersonal relationships. Changing the gender order, as shown by the results of the study, is a necessary condition for the formation of responsible environmental behavior of both men and women.
