Abstract

The article gives a brief national history of national-state identification. It is revealed that at least from the middle of the 16th century there is an alleged confrontation between Russian and Rossian (in the 20th century, respectively, Soviet) indentity of the state, society and population. The imagination is connected with the fact that in essence Rus (Russia) and Rossia are synonyms, in our state the Russian people, Russian culture and Russian language predominate in fact, but for the sake of various ideological and political reasons the authorities have been profitable for five centuries to orotize on the Byzantine a variant of national-state identification: first, relying on the concept of Moscow - the Third Rome, then the USSR (Russia) - a multinational state. Therefore, the final part of the article describes the actual directions of the state national policy of Russia.
