Abstract

In the context of further expansion of globalization processes, the key economies of the world seek to offer their own vision of globalization, which is usually presented as a specific development strategy for the entire world as a whole or for its substantial part. One of the most ambitious is the Chinese project One belt - one road. This article analyzes its essence, gives a brief historical digression, and examines the reaction of the world community to this initiative. According to the results of the research, it was ascertained that there are both grounds for the success of this ambitious project of the PRC and quite complex obstacles. In turn, the author resolves the dilemma of assessing a project as a challenge or a source of new opportunities in such a way that for developing economies of the countries involved in the orbit of this project it is certainly a source of new opportunities, while for developed economies with their own investment plans and programs, he is obviously a challenge.
