The uncertainty of ontological constructions of modernity correlates with the practical exhaustion of the epistemological potential of the universalist metanarrative of Modernity and related cognitive and political-institutional attitudes. The unattainability of a consensus explanatory paradigm in the foreseeable future, the emergence of new referential values of philosophical and political universals, implies the need to turn to non-linear methodological approaches. The discrepancy between the referents of Russian society and the dominant normative theories and discourses that reflected the European historical experience gave rise to ideological constructions and goal-setting that differ polarly in assessing the status and specifics of Russia as a subject of history.Materials and methods. Methodological recognition of the irreducibility to a single denominator of variants of socio-political development and the need for nonlinear optics of reflection was the main theoretical premise. The multiplicity of conceptual and content relations between universality and particularity, and the recognition of ontological diversity were used to interpret the diversification of political development options that differs from the normative one. The range of conceptual positions that form the philosophical outline of the study of the socio-political ontology of Russia has become a speculative basis and a discursive confirmation. Reliability and verifiability of theoretical reasoning based on the reference to data of sociological research FNESC wounds, FOM, and reference database the current number of event that led to the practical reference of theoretical constructs to the realities of Russian politics.Research result. The metaphysics of Russian society, refracted in political connotations, is interpreted simultaneously through two logics: linear-normative and original. The explicative departure from value judgments confirms the ineffectiveness of interpreting the Russian specifics of political development within the framework of the modernization paradigm. The ideological structures of relations between the state and society, the logic and pragmatics of political and social changes should be considered as a product of specific historical circumstances. Particular projections of the political framework of the relationship between power and religious institutions in Russia, including the completeness of the subjectivity of institutions and the imperatives of political metaphysics, reflect the institutional parameters of the Russian specifics of the power balance and the variability of the future.Conclusions. The metaphysics of Russian society determines the parameters and reproducibility of political structures of the relationship between the state and society, generating a multiplicity of strategies and goal-setting that cannot be reduced to a single denominator. The ontology of Russian society is reflected in a specific institutional framework, the attribute of which is the tendency to monopolize and concentrate power in the hands of the state. The logic of reproducing these parameters on the example of the relationship between the state and religious institutions, superimposed on the universality of modern changes in traditional political, institutional and socio-cultural parameters of the world and ways of reflection, raises the question of diversifying the ways of achieving the political process not in the mode of deviations, but within the framework of ontological diversity.
