Abstract

The article examines the differences between capital and regional universities in terms of training personnel for innovative production. The theoretical and methodological basis is a set of provisions that reveal the complex and contradictory nature of the relationship between the economy and higher education, the imbalance in the level of modernization of production and the level of educational potential. It is concluded that the best regional universities may well compete with the capital's universities and limit the so-called “educational capital-centrism” by making better use of available resources and closer ties with local production.
