The factors and mechanisms of the functioning of the Russian language as a unify-ing element of the Russian-speaking communities of Hungary, its role in the formation of ethnic identity, the impact on the intercultural interaction of migrants in Russian-speaking communities and with the host society of Hungary are studied. Possibilities of promoting the Russian language in Hungary are analyzed. A special place in the article is given to the features of the formation of the “image of Russia” in the eyes of our compatriots and citizens of Hungary. An analysis of the responses of respondents allows us to conclude that the Russian language is very widespread in Hungary and that it is of interest to learn it both among the younger generations of our compatriots and among the Hungarian population.
