Abstract

On the last day of 2019, China reported about the discovery of a new coronavirus infection, subsequently named COVID-19. On March 11 2020, the World Health Organization announced the coronavirus pandemic. Now we can already talk about what changes have occurred in the world during the pandemic and give some accurate estimates for the future. First of all, regarding the mobility of the population of countries and regions of the world. In particular, the COVID-19 pandemic very clearly showed us how great the impact of migration on the development of the global economy is, what are the opportunities and limitations of national health systems, how do governments of different countries interact among themselves in the fight against the global problem. Vietnam and Thailand can be attributed to those countries in which the number of detected cases of COVID-19 per capita is much less than in other countries. In this paper, we will try to understand the reasons for this phenomenon, and also discuss the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic for international migration processes, including from Vietnam and Thailand to Russia. Currently, it can already be said that the return to the previous scale of migration will be difficult and very long, both due to the preservation of some of the restrictive measures related to ensuring the safety of passenger transportation, and due to the global drop in demand for foreign labor due to the decline in the national economies of recipient countries of labor migrants and the need to provide employment for the local population.
