Abstract

The article discusses the opportunities and limitations for the development of small and medium-sized businesses in small cities on the Russian border. It shows the specifics of border cities and the need to develop a strategy aimed at their support and development. The article presents the opinions of entrepreneurs who live and work in small towns on the border territories, about the main difficulties that hinder the development of private entrepreneurship, as well as about development opportunities. It is concluded that it is necessary to preserve such territorial units from the point of view of social, economic and socio-cultural aspects.
