Abstract

The paper considers the historical experience of the use of zoning by Chinese scientists, experts in the field of economic geography throughout the twentieth century. The main promising areas of the use of zoning in the framework of the strategy for sustainable regional development of China at the beginning of the XXI century The analysis is based on articles by Chinese authors published on the pages of the specialized magazines “Vestnik Geografii”, “Geographical Journal”, “Scientific Herald”, “Geographic Almanac”, “Geographical Research”, “Progress in Earth Science”.
