Abstract

The purpose of the article is to analyze the place and role of the Komi Republic in the country's spatial development strategy. The basic hypothesis is formulated as follows: when orienting the country's spatial development in the northeastern direction, the Komi Republic will play one of the key roles. Objects of observation are economic specialization and territorial formations of the republic, which are reflected in the Strategy. The analysis shows that the Komi Republic is given a lot of attention and space in the Country Spatial Development Strategy. And in comparison with most of the other 85 subjects of the federation, there is simply a lot of attention. And this is quite understandable. The spatial development of the country is focused primarily on the North and East. And here the Komi Republic currently serves as the territory that simply cannot be bypassed in an effort to move in a northeast direction.
