Abstract

Demographic aging of the population is one of the most important social problems that largely affects the economic, industrial and social relations of the modern world. One of the natural consequences of population aging as a socio-demographic process is the growth of needs for social services and the development of the social service system. The objectives of this study were based on analysis of the objective situation of older persons in society, the study of their lifestyle in the system of social relations with the close environment (family, children, relatives, team, work, etc.). Were considered the main stages of aging, the problems of organization methods of occupational therapy as a health-preserving factors in the elderly, contributing to the restoration and compensation of impaired functions, the estimation of life activity of elderly on the example of the authors of the project the GARDEN (happy active longevity). As research methods that correspond to the purpose and subject, a review of the literature and Internet sources on the problem under study, an analysis of empirical data obtained on the basis of the study were used. The results of the study led to the conclusion that most of the surveyed elderly people continue their work because of material interest and fear, and the lack of work will affect their health. It is noted that the prospect of developing medical and social services for the elderly should be aimed primarily at improving the quality and expanding the range of services and creating conditions in society so that older people have the opportunity to maintain an active social status for as long as possible, remain active and useful members of our society, since they are carriers of knowledge and experience.
