Abstract

The article makes a hypothesis about the causes of changes in the educational and professional trajectories of the youth of Russian society over the past three decades. Mainly, the idea lies in the determining force of socialization and the transformations taking place in the light of various sociocultural, economic, historical and other changes taking place in Russia and in the world. It is assumed that changes in the professional preferences of young people are the result of shifts in the system of socialization agents, the emergence of new factors, and transformations of the cultural background. Questions are raised about the possibility of a theoretical description of this research development with a view to its subsequent study. Further, the author cites the paradigm bases of the hypothesis put forward, relying on the foreign direction “Life Course”, which considers the lives of individuals, their various trajectories and decisions as indicators and consequences of changes in society at the global level. In addition, arguments are made about the need to develop a directly theoretical framework for understanding the process proposed by the author. The author suggests using the thesaurus concept of Val socialization as the main language of description. Lukov (Lukov 2008), and also refer to the research of A.I. Kovaleva (Kovaleva, Bogdanova 2012) to understand the dynamic aspect of socialization. The main categories in the conceptual model of the problem under study are thesaurus generalization (one of the key concepts of the concept of Val. Lukov (Lukov 2008: 158)) and the socialization trajectory (the concept introduced by A.I. Kovaleva (Kovaleva, Bogdanova 2012: 78)). A detailed argument is given for the appropriateness of applying these theoretical developments and their descriptive power is substantiated.
