Abstract

The article shows the need to study social and professional adaptation, which reflects the features of the subject's interaction with a dynamically changing professional environment. Based on sociological concepts, the author analyzes the essential characteristics of social and professional adaptation, which is both the process and the result of an individual's involvement in the profession in the course of matching the needs for professional self-realization with the requirements and conditions of the professional environment. In the conceptual study of the phenomenon of social and professional adaptation, important aspects of a person's professional life are touched upon, in particular, professional identity and role, conditions and opportunities for professional self-realization, self-assessment of their position in the labor market. Within the framework of the thesaurus approach, objective and subjective indicators of social and professional adaptation are distinguished, which becomes the basis for a meaningful representation of this phenomenon at the empirical level. The role of social subjectivity in active strategies of social and professional adaptation is emphasized, which by definition is reduced not only to passive adaptation, but also contains innovative potential. Promising directions of the sociological analysis of the mechanisms of social and professional adaptation in the conditions of the rapid renewal of the world of professions in the digital society are noted.
